Helping bioengineers build a powerful publication

We will be running an intensive short course in “writing effective research manuscripts” for researchers at the Helmoltz Pioneer Campus, a new interdisciplinary institute fusing bioengineering, biomedicine and bioinformatics in order to tackle the next generation of biggest challenges.

Major topics will include writing with a focus on the target audience(s), distilling out key messages from the research project and using them to structure a manuscript, and strategies for effective visual display of data.

In true engineering style, we will also examine the macro-structure of research writing (how to tell a linear, coherent research story) as well as the micro-structure (through opportune repetition, transitions, and imagistic writing).
